The Franklin Wonder Five defined basketball during an eight-year era from 1918-1926. Four of those years were at Franklin High School, followed by an additional four at Franklin College. Earning three consecutive high school championships from 1920 to 1922, the team went undefeated during the 1922 and 1923 seasons at Franklin College, thus becoming national champions. Ernest Griz Wagner coached the team.
